Bassmasters Antietam Bassmasters Jimmy Kline Leathercrafts provided each of the platoon members with a leather key chain with the U.S. Army insignia and their unit logo on it. We appreciate the work that this platoon, as well as all of the men and women serving in the armed services, are doing. We acknowledge the sacrifices that these brave soldiers make daily. We pray that God Bless and Safely Keep each of these men and women until they are once again on U.S. soil. Antietam BassmastersAntietam Bassmasters started the 2005 season off April 3rd at Little Seneca Lake (Black Hills), due to unsafe conditions on the Susky. With no help from the 30 mph winds, some fish were still coerced to bit. Dave Lawrence obviously found the right combo coming in 1st by bring in 5 fish for 12lb. 4oz., not to mention a 3lb. 15 oz. Lunker. Nick Hill 2nd place with 4 fish weighing 11lb. 9 oz., including 3 fish over 3lb. and Pint Kline rounding out the top 3 with 2 fish weighing 5lb.12oz including a 3lb. 13oz. big fish. Over all it was tough for most, having to fight the wind all day. The Club then made the trip down to Lower Potomac launching out of Smallwood. Fighting low tide conditions for most of the day, mostly everyone landed a few fish. Mike Miller found the right combination bringing in 11 lbs. 9 oz. limit. Ben Gusciora and Jim Hayden round out the top three with 6lb.14 oz. and 6lb. 13oz. We then traveled to Conowingo Dam for the 3rd TX of the year. Curt Anthony held on for the 2nd straight year here, bringing in 5 fish weighing 8lbs. 9oz. Conway Barnes and Randy Weagley round out the top three with 7lbs. 9oz. and 7lbs. 1oz. Off to Lake Erie, the clubs annual trip up met expectations for most. The 2-day TX netted over 100lbs. of fish just in the top three places. Ben Gusciora 2 day total of 41lbs. 13oz. took 1st with a 5lb. 14oz. lunker. Josh Fiedler made his presence known in his rookie year with 37lbs. 1oz. and Curt Anthony took third with 31lbs. 14oz. Coming back home to our turf takes us to Deep Creek Lake. Bob Hassler was able to best figure out the pattern off the day bringing in 5 fish weighing 9lb. 10oz. with Marty Brunner and Nick Hill rounding out the top three with 8lbs. 4oz. and 8lbs. 3oz. After taking a 2-month summer lay off, the club decided to go to Four Locks on the Upper Potomac. With soaring gas prices, many did not want to travel far. Surprisingly enough some fish were convinced to bite. Newcomer Mike Smith, fishing his first TX with the club, found the right combo with 5 fish weighing 5lbs. 10oz. Mike Miller and Nick Hill rounded out the top three with 3lbs. 3oz. and 2lbs. 14oz. Headed for Raystown Lake, most were optimistic. It hasn’t been too productive in the past. Ben Gusciora was able to catch a couple giving him 1st place honors catching 5lbs. 3ozs. With a 3lb. 3oz. lunker. Josh Fiedler and Mike Smith rounded out the top three with 2lb. 13oz. and 2lbs. 12oz. The final TX of the year takes us to Susquehanna River Ft. Hunter. The race for Angler of the Year and Mister Bass comes down to the final TX. What a close race this year. With fish biting well, it was a matter of that one big fish for the title. Josh Fiedler found the big fish and 1st place finish in the TX. 16lbs. 4oz. limit with a 4lb. 5oz. lunker. Nick Hill 2nd place with 15lbs. 14oz., and Bob Hassler 3rd with 14lbs. 9oz. Time for the end of year tally, Nick Hill takes top honors for both Angler of the Year and Mister Bass with 36 fish weighing 72lbs. 7oz. and 725 total points. Curt Anthony takes 2nd with 29 fish weighing 70lbs. 7oz. and 640 total points. Ben Gusciora finishes 3rd with 24 fish weighing 66 lbs. 14oz. and 640 total points. |
