A new season is just around the corner many clubs will be looking for new members. Any clubs that would like to post some information in the next issue please send it to me early next year so we may get it in the next Update. The Bass Expo is coming up and that is an excellent way to increase your membership of your clubs. The MBF has a booth at the show and keeps a list of people coming in the door that are interested in joining a club. When I started Black Hills B/M, I got 90% of my roster from the Expo alone. So be sure to take advantage of this opportunity, often it is overlooked. Also early in the year send in articles for your club on your upcoming events and tournaments. WestMar B/M Black Hill
Bassmasters
Black Hill Bassmasters We have already had two tournaments. Our first tournament was a one day event held on the Potomac in mid March. The notorious March winds were brutal, as a small craft advisory was upon us. Two members decided that it wasn’t worth the risk, but the rest of the club took on the weather. All the members that fished reported in with at least one keeper. Ed Amatucci had a monster that went almost 6 pounds – way to go Ed! Young Patrick Cable showed up the rest of the club with his first win! Way to show the old guys how its done, Patrick! Second place went to Don Cable and Third place went to EdAmatucci. Our second tournament was a two day event on Lake Anna in mid April. All members reported in with fish again, but the weather was wet, wet, wet. Most of us had a lesson in sight fishing, as there were still a lot of good fish on beds. Randall Webb took first with some impressive Lake Anna bass. Ed Amatucci took second and Jeff Harting took third. Ed Amatucci had lunker the first day and Lew Rydzewski took lunker the second day – both fish were in the 4 pound range. Despite the weather, it was a good tournament. We’re all looking forward to the rest of the season and wish our fellow Maryland bass fisherman tight lines and good luck on the water. Black Hills is looking for new members, especially boaters. Call Joe Homick at (703) 489-7613. Todd Kimmell |
